Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
According to Jamie, "A good blast of these tunes, a nice bit of tukka and some good company is, without sounding like a cheesy git, the recipe for a nice time, happy days". But this is no gentle background music for a dinner party-there are no gentle jazz doodlings or calm classical cadences, instead it's jam packed with the best in alternative rock and dance, complete with fully annotated sleeve notes from the Naked Chef himself, explaining his love of each and every track. On a dance tip, there is some storming big-beat buffoonery from Fatboy Slim ("Right Here, Right Now") and a classic slice of trip-hop from Sneaker Pimps ("6 Underground"), but the dance end of Jamie's record collection is far outweighed by his love of indie--from fellow Essex boys Blur ("Trouble in the Message Centre") to northern stars Happy Mondays ("Loose Fit") there is more than a decade's worth of tunes on the menu. There is even a late entry from up-and-coming rocksters Scarlet Division ("Sundial") featuring a certain chef on drums, which somewhat lets the side down on the quality front, but it's a small complaint--the rest of the material on offer more than makes up for a couple of duff tracks. Pukka. --Helen Marquis

1 out of 5 stars Whats All This Malarkey!?   April 19, 2003

Oh Dear, another sad complilation from one of the countries saddest people. The really sad thing is, there are a few decent songs on here, but seeing his face on the front cover makes them terrible listens. The worst offender is his own song, Scarlet Division? Go listen to Joy Division instead.

This is a compilation I wouldn't be without! Found it more or less by mistake... and I'm not the only one who seems to like it. Not even the kids/teenagers at work complain when I play this (as they do if I would play some techno). Buy it!

This cd is blindingly classs , Jamie Oliver rocks. It is the perfect cd to cook to , it has many phat tunes to cook on down to ( the phatesst being 18 Scarlet Division-Sundial!!!.) This track has such a good beat you just wanna play it again and again. You must buy this cd if you are a top class chef and can cook a nice steak meal , it is class to cook on down to. If you liked Jamies tv series , you can find all of the massive tunes featured in the series on this phat cd. A must buy !!!!

Step in to Jamies kitchen and stomp to his favorite breaks from Toploader-Dancing in The Moonlight, The Stone Roses-Begging You & his own uplifting beats on the drumkit from his delightful band Scarlet Division, whom echo the scent of the band Garbage.

"Scarlet Division don't put Garbage out, they rank themselves amongst the best".

Jamies blend of indie pop surely did hit the right spot. I look forward to the debut album from Scarlet Divison..."Keep cookin' up the tunes Jamie your building up my appetite mate".
