A great addition to the film. October 1, 2005 I love Pixar films, and Finding Nemo is probably my favourite. After the umpteenth time watching it I realised how much the film relies on the music to provide mood and counterpoint to the stunning images. It was an easy decision to make to buy the soundtrack, even though I do not normally do so. Music removed from the images they have been attached to seems to diminish the effect. But not this time. One short track sums up how good this music is. Short Term Dory is the music you hear when Marlon first meets Dory and she dashes off to show him where the boat he is chasing went. In just a few minutes you get everything you saw on the screen. The initial excitement and purpose, fading into forgetful randomness, turning into confusion then agression towards Marlon for following her. Brilliant. Next time you watch the film listen carefully. Feel a bit happy- teary at the end? Good chance the music is helping you feel like that.

Many people who pay no attention to the world of movie soundtracks will have heard Newman's work before; dance music artist Jakatta's popular tracks "American Dream" and "My Vision" use snippets from American Beauty and The Shawshank Redemption respectively. Both films are blessed with absolutely gorgeous thematic music, and Nemo is no different. I wouldn't call myself a film music buff but I admit to shouting out "I knew it!" in the cinema as the music credits rolled. Newman balances vast string landscapes in equal parts with strong piano motifs, and uses percussion like no other soundtrack composer. This is the kind of CD you want to have around to put on to really relax with; chillout at it's best. In a word; gorgeous. In two words; very gorgeous!

It's truly a testament to a film's quality when it inspires a composer to produce work of such beauty and grace - this is certainly amongst the best film soundtracks ever recorded, despite being rather low-key by comparison to other acclaimed soundtracks such as the works of John Williams and Howard Shore. Beautiful, magnificent and very emotional.
Finding Nemo OST November 15, 2003 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
An excellent soundtrack, my kids force me to play it regularly when on car journeys to remind them of the film. My only gripe is that having been given a promo CDRom of the film incl trailers, I was dissappointed that the Men At Work "Down Under" track was missing from both the film and this. However the lack of typical Disney style soundtrack fodder makes this an enjoyable album, even if you havent seen the film.
A Gateway to the World of the Oceans. October 31, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have seen the film and I first have to say that it is excellent. But the atmosphere wouldn't be half what it is without the stunning soundtrack. This CD contains the content that creates the dramatic tension wthin "Finding Nemo". From the dark and scary to the happy and hopeful orchestrated music, this CD has it all. So if you're a music lover as well as a disney lover...Buy this CD!
