With Abba Agnetha Faltskog sold more records in her life than most artists could ever dream of. My Colouring Book didn't start life as an album; it was inspired by a scrapbook hobby that grew into a passion for the 1960s. Don't expect Abba-esque floor-fillers or pub-band crowd pleasers. Faltskog has taken, for the most part, less popular songs of the period and injected them with an ambience that could only come from a deep knowledge and understanding of the music, fashion and style of the 60s. Her voice sounds stronger and crisper than ever; this, combined with a mountain of grandiose string arrangements, makes for a strangely epic journey of easy listening. "Love Me With All Your Heart" is filled with bombast and sugary-sweetness, drawing comparisons to the late, great Dusty Springfield. The sadly over-covered "Fly Me to the Moon" thankfully keeps the jazz vibe to a minimum, sticking to the big strings, guitar and vocal arrangement that dominates the whole feel of the album. My Colouring Book could easily have been rubbish, ploughing through a catalogue of songs that have been abused too many times, yet Faltskog manages to pull it off with style, grace and elegance. --David Trueman

Having come out of the closet recently, I guess getting past 40 you decide that pride is one of those things you can do without, I recently rediscovered Agnetha again, I had admired the ABBA stuff and still do but was definitely interested in hearing more of the blonde woman in ABBA.
My Colouring Book I must admit I was skeptical at first, having heard one too many cover bands back in Melbourne, Australia. But this woman doesn't just sing covers on this album, she makes love to them. I found myself wondering how she would handle other classics like Cooper's Only Women Bleed and so many more.
My favourite track is the Searcher's old song When You Walk In The Room, which should have been sung by her first because it has a totally different feel when she sings it.
Sealed With a Kiss was cheesy when Cliff Richard sung it but on this album it sounds sensual and earthy, something Richard could never get away with even now. If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind keeps you from the cold. Present and Future I wasn't sure about but it's growing on me and What Now My Love is a fitting final track on what is a remarkable compilation of covers.
She may have been criticised for not doing original songs but I consider this a worthy addition to my collection and let's hope there's more to come she has taken old classic songs and coloured them with her own unique sensual feel.

If you love the 'over production' sound of ABBA you will love this too. not a 'disappointment' as many scare mongerers had predicted. Enoy

I was pretty exicited to get this - a die-hard ABBA fan and follower of folk music too - what could be a more perfect balance? Not this. It's second rate twaddle and just cos Agnetha once won Reay of the Year does not give an excuse to publish such dreary songs. Only the third track has any strength to it. Save your money.

This album is just lovely. Gentle lovesongs with just a hint sadness and solitude running through them all, which seems to add to the overall impact. I bought this album for "If I thought you'd ever change your mind" which has such a lovely clear simplicity and poignance about it, especially the way Agnetha sings it. Most tracks are well known - all are beautifully sung - this album is rather like looking into a diamond, Agnetha's voice is clear, sparkles, is unique and has many different facets.

Agnetha Faltskog needs no introduction, we know where she's from, we know her past, we know she can sing. As an artist she has nothing to prove and why should she?
This album is a gift to her many fans around the globe, filled with beautiful ballads and love songs from the 60's, when Agnetha was having her own hits on the Swedish and Scandinavian pop charts.
There isn't a bad song on this album and in most cases (if not all, in my humble oppinion) Agnetha exceeds the original versions in quality and arrangements, adding her own unique sound & style and bringing new life to these classics.
Songs like the Shangri-la's "Past, Present & Future" are perfect fodder for her as are "Sometimes When I'm Dreaming" & "Sealed With A Kiss."
Uptempo numbers like "Love Me With All Your Heart" & "When You Walk In The Room" remind us of the fun times of the Abba years. Her version of "Fly Me To The Moon" surely leaves the others behind as she sings this song so effortlessly, I love the feel of it, very sensuous.
You can just tell that these are among Agnetha's favourite songs, and this album is a homage to a bygone era which we so desparately need today.
Treat yourself to this fantastic CD, it has what I can only describe as having the same effect as finding hidden treasure and every song is a gem!
