Wish I'd been there August 10, 2008 This is Fallen preformed in paris live on DVD, with the CD in to boot. The lighting is good, the atmosphere from the crown made me feel as though i was there and the quality of the sound is excellent. it includes the first four videos that they did, and they are as good as I remember. It includes a behind the scenes of evanescence, which i watched, but found boring after a while, but I can see that people would like to see it. It includes missing, an excellent track that hadn't previously made it to album. I fail to see why, as it would have finnished Fallen off well. It also includes the excellent Thoughtless and Farther Away. As i wached it for the first time, i found myself wishing that i had been to paris (despite the french) to see this preformence. Would i recomend it to any one? well, yes i would, and i have. I've even got people to listen to evenesce on the strength of this dvd. Watch this DVD with the sound up and damn the neighbors.
Hypnotic July 11, 2008 I've frankly got mixed feelings about the concert DVD portion of this set. Whoever did it seems to come from the Steve Harris school of editing, because the cutting is so fast it leaves you feeling a tad nauseous with a touch of vertigo thrown in... I actually spent most of the time watching it trying to decide whether they were actually performing live, or if they'd just stuck audio over the video post concert. That said, the best part of the concert was when Amy was sitting at the piano singing, you could at least tell that part WAS live.
If this DVD had just been the concert I'd have given it a generous 2, however it gets a 4 because a: the "Behind The Scenes" footage is very entertaining, and much better than the concert IMO, and b: it includes a CD of the concert, which means I can listen to it without getting hypnotised by the flashing imagery.
Just a short one... February 14, 2008 Just a quick one to say that Amy Hartzler (born Amy Lynn Lee December 13 1981 in Riverside California), and best known as Amy Lee. Has the BEST rock/heavy voice I have ever heard. None of the warbling up and down long notes of a lot of American rock/R&B vocalists nowadays she can hold a solid note for, like, forever. To me she has almost no 'reverb' at all. Plus the band does not wear the 'obligitory' black leather and straps of a typical "Goth Rock Band". Also ... hmmm ... Amy Lee is gorgeous to look at... I WILL be buying this DVD.
What can I say, I've FALLEN! June 15, 2005 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have to say that I've watched this video over and over. I love the songs and am so glad they included four music videos. Amy Lee is a great front-woman and in my opinion in the top three female rock vocalists in the world - along with Julianne Regan of All About Eve and No Doubt's Gwen Stefani. I did, however notice that on occasion, Amy was singing harmonies with herself. I'm not sure whether this was backing tracks (which is a possibility as there was no keyboard player on stage, but there were certainly keyboards playing) or whether they added it in a studio afterwards. This isn't an uncommon practice though, even Roger Waters did this with The Wall Live in Berlin. The sound quality is excellent with a choice of 5.1 surround or 2.0. Great to see Missing (studio version) included on the CD and the DVD (DVD as end titles to Behind the Scenes doc), which I hadn't heard before and love. Breathe No More (Live) was also new to me and a beautiful track. I have to say that the Behind the Scenes "documentary" was something of a disappointment. I was hoping to learn something about this excellent band and maybe have an interview with Amy. Unfortunately it was little more than a lot of shouting, mooning and general larking around. It did give an insight into Amy Lee though. By some of the lyrics to her songs, you'd expect her to be introverted and pessimistic. Well she certainly doesn't appear to be. If anything, she's like a kid that really shouldn't be allowed to have sugary drinks. It was a nice surprise. One other thing: the track list is wrong, Missing is not in the concert at all, it's a studio track played during the end titles (as I said before). A must DVD for all fans. Brilliant concert and great videos. Roll on album No 2!
Evanescence ROCK January 11, 2005 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Having seen the band live in Birmingham, I wasn't disappointed with this excellent DVD/CD. (what a brilliant idea to put the concert on CD, because how many time do you want to listen to a live CD but only have it on DVD/video?)with the added benefit of videos of their previously released tracks and 'Behind the scenes' to see them in their own light was excellent. Amy Lee has a fantastic voice and this DVD/CD is an absolute must for any Evanescence fan.
