Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Prison Break season two simply shouldn't work. Having effectively concluded the story arc at the end of season one, there was real cynicism as to whether the pace, energy and excitement could possibly transfer to more episodes.

Yet that's overlooking the sheer presence of the fascinating, twisted bunch of characters we got to know, love, hate and jeer at throughout the show's maiden season. And in many ways, the second series of Prison Break evolves into a logical extension. If you've not seen series one, look away now.

With Michael and Lincoln Burroughs, along with the other escapees, now on the run, the focus switches to keeping out of prison rather than trying to break into it (not for nothing does one of the show's creators cite The Fugitive as an influence). That's no easy task though. On top of the media interest in them, there are the political forces behind the scenes that were slowly developed in the maiden season,

Once you add into the cauldron the simmering relationships between the escapees themselves, and the feeling of distrust that underpins them, the second season of Prison Break falls into place. And do you know what? It's genuinely as exciting as it was first time round.

Sure, the show takes the occasional narrative shortcut, and shows willingness to test the boundaries of realism as much as it can. But there's no getting away from it: Prison Break is relentless, exciting television, and when this second season concludes with a logical progression to what'll happen in the third, you can't help but demand more. --Jon Foster

5 out of 5 stars TOP DRAW STUFF ONCE AGAIN!!!!!   May 8, 2008
I enjoyed the first series far more than this but this was still top draw stuff from were the first series finished. I really didn't think it would work not being in a prison but it did it was edge of the seat right to the final scene. My only moan is they have killed off some of the more none actors which is a shame really I just hope series 3 brings in some good new ones. Overall well worth a view for me this is better than 24 and that is coming from a die hard 24 fan.

3 out of 5 stars What Happened?! (Spoilers)   January 2, 2008

After the superb first season, this second season had to do a lot right to maintain the momentum since the prisoners had now accomplished the title of the series. Unfortunately, I felt there were a few too many mis-steps to make this anywhere near as good as the first season.

I didn't like the sudden removal of Veronica Donovan in the very first episode. It felt like they didn't know what to do with the character and so just killed her off. Also, other characters like Abruzzi and Tweener were wasted. The biggest problem I had was Mahone. In the beginning, he seems like a strong law-abiding person dedicated to capturing Michael and Lincoln, however the mistake is made by making him corrupt and a part of the shady governement conspiracy.

By the end of the season, this conspiracy has been rushed to a disappointing conclusion to make way for a completely new storyline in the third season, which I'm sorry to say suffers from the same problems as the second and worse.

5 out of 5 stars It shouldn't work but it does....   December 21, 2007

I was intrigued as to how Prison Break Season 1 was going to last a whole season with such a simple concept as a guy wanting to break his brother out of prison. Not only was I intrigued by the concept but I soon found myself hooked by the comings and goings of the inmates of Fox River Penitentiary. Season 1 ended and it seemed mission accomplished....then there's talk of season 2. Happy days! Again I wasn't sure how this was going to work....surely keeping out of prison was going to be easy enough. No so in Prison Break.

Season 2 follows the separate and inter-twining journeys of our escapees as they do their best to stay ahead of the game....not an easy task when their pictures are splashed across every newspaper and tv in the country. Add FBI Agent Mahone (William Fichtner of Invasion fame) and an angry Brad Bellick to the mix and Michael and Lincoln have some serious company hot on their tails.

Season 2 of Prison Break is as brilliant or maybe even moreso than season 1. The plot is as complex as that in season 1 and with the return of our heroes and our hated you can't help but find yourself hooked....yet again.

Fans of Prison Break will be thrilled to know that the ending makes for a brilliant beginning....to season 3. Just when you thought your worries were all gone....they start all over again.

5 out of 5 stars Superb Second Season   November 17, 2007

After the action and suspense of season 1 I began to watch the follow up with a feeling of trepidation. Yes I was excited to see what was in store for the former inmates of Fox River but on the other hand, how many prisons can anyone break out of? However, I was wrong.

This season follows the escapees as they stake their claim for freedom. During which they run from the authorities, battle personal demons, hatch plans and make and make crucial decisions. I found myself gripped and stimulated by the depth of the characters, plot twists and the suspense created by each episode.

The escapees are constantly tested, both collectively and individually which helps you gain a better understanding of their motives and psyche. Stories which began in the 1st season are developed, which help to add clarity. New characters are introduced adding sub plots and intrigue along the way

I'm a prison break fan and I think this is a clever, interesting and slick drama series. This season has all the ingredients to keep most hooked and I had no qualms giving it 5 stars.
