Amazon.co.uk Review
Truncated to a slim 11 episodes as a result of the writers' strike that was ongoing in America during its production, Heroes' second season nonetheless packs enough in to keep the momentum rolling on one of the most exciting Stateside shows of the moment.

Heroes is, at heart, the comic book tale of a varied group of people, each with special powers that they struggle to come to terms with. With such powers, of course, come troubling foes and situations to face, and that proves to be the case here. So this time, we pick up four months after the events of the first series, and there's the small matter of the Shanti virus to contend with. This provides the main thrust for the series' story arc, and allows room for several interesting sub-plots to develop too.

Yet while, in the world of Heroes, you suspect that this second series will never rank with the best, there's easily enough here to justify the asking price, and the show emerges easily with its reputation intact. Even when it's not at the top of its game, Heroes is exciting, interesting and polished entertainment. --Jon Foster

2 out of 5 stars Total Mess   September 30, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Pacing is completely screwed with nothing interesting happening until halfway through the 11 episodes. Dull new characters in Maya (with her ridiculous ability), Alejandro (who ends up being totally pointless) and Monica. Plot is a rehash of the first series but done in half the time and with no character building or any of the mystery of series 1.
Worth watching for episodes 8 and 9 (Four Months Ago & Cautionary Tales) only.
The rest is boring and messy especially the appalling trash of 'Powerless' with Peter acting even more airheaded than I previously thought was possible and Nathan showing up and saving the day by saying the magic words "I love you" before deciding to organise a spur of the moment press conference and give one of the most cringe-inducing speeches ever filmed.
Elle (the only new character who does anything interesting/can act) and Mr Bennett steal the series. The other characters (new or returning) are pretty forgettable and Sylar is getting really tiresome.

5 out of 5 stars You Ether Love Season 2 Or Hate Season 2   September 24, 2008

It's the season that split the world, You ether love this season or hate it. The story picks up 4 months on which gives the season a mysterious feel, however this also makes it very confusing.

Before I bought this season I heard that it was rubbish and boring, and i focuses on the new charcters too much, which put me off buying it. But I was so desprate to see what all the fuss was about, when I realised that personaly, I enjoyed Season 2 more than Season 1.

Season 2 is slower paced and it all builds up two the end slowly, unlike season 1 which had sort of side stories to keep you entertained. Their is a good storyline which makes you desprate to skip to the end. But then the Stroyline dose get a bit boring on 1 or 2 epsodes.

Overall this is well worth watching ( but only if you've seen season 1 )

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing follow-up to great first season   August 20, 2008

I was disappointed by the whole of season 2. The story is so depressing, there are very few light moments. It's a real shame because it looks great and it's well acted but it's just depressing.

4 out of 5 stars Heroes Season 2   August 13, 2008

I really loved the first season of 24, I thought that a lot of time went into it and the story was interesting and kept you entertained throughout. How ever the end was a little disappointing.
Season 2 has been slated which I think is a bit harsh, I think most negative comments was due to the writers strike causing the season to fall short at only 11 episodes.
There were more characters introduced in season and I did feel that this took the airtime of the characters we had already grown to love away also making storylines more complicated and like the previous person stated disjointed.

For me the season did get better as it went on but I would love to see where they go from here.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best shows on TV   July 31, 2008
1 out of 3 found this review helpful

This second season of the brilliant Heroes TV show was sadly curtailed by the writers strike and the first half was widely slated by both critics and fans but personally I feel it is just as good as season one. I would admit that this season is not without its problems; Peters' amnesia plot is terribly cliched, many of the new characters aren't terribly interesting or well acted (especially anyone with an `Irish' accent), and Hiro probably stayed in the past slightly too long. These are all little things however and they are far outweighed by the brilliant and involving writing and competent performances by most of the main cast.

Although it does go on for a bit too long, one of the highlights of the season for me has to be Hiro's adventures in feudal Japan. Despite the plot of this part of the season being somewhat predictable, it is nonetheless a greatly interesting and well made story. It is also a shame that season was cut short as it was definitely hitting its stride during the latter episodes of season two. Overall despite a few missed steps, season two is a great season that is definitely better watched on DVD rather than weekly. Heroes easily remains one of best shows on television at present.
