I've been toying with the idea of buying a Bose Sounddock to put in the kitchen for those 'dancing round the chopped vegetables moments', but having seen a good review on the Gadget Show about this beast, I thought I'd take the plunge. Well, I've had it for a day now and WOW, all other reviews about bass response are true. I listen to a lot of different styles of music but bass is essential. In essence it's a sub woofer with speakers. Compact, well designed with only one flaw - the stereo separation. However, when standing on the other side of the room, who cares - it fills the area with a rounded sound which, for the money is phenomenal. Can't wait to try it outside when weather allows.

I have had this 2 days now and i'm well impressed and i' not saying it from a newbie to ipod docks view! I used to own the mm50 and the Bose and sold them as i wanted something better, tried the B&W Zepelin and i now have a Fatman itube carbon with Fatboy speakers at a cost of 900 and the sound from that is simply amazing and in my eyes will never be touched as an ipod system. The thing is tho i can't move the fatman around as it sits on a self in our front room so wanted something for the kitchen/garden for the barbecues this summer. After looking at many reveiws and prices i thought id give this a try due to its compact size and reasonable price. Well i have to say i'm well impressed its ideal for the kitchen and putting in the garden on those party nights. Although its small the sound does not represent this at all, its as good as the Bose but at a 1/3 of the price. Infact i would say its better than the Bose as although the Bose sounded okay it was a let down in the base department and this goes a lot louder without distorting at loud levels. If you have tracks with plenty of base this does not dissapoint and you can actually feel it through the floor from this little box which really is an accomplishment Without a doubt and from my past experience of sounddocks you won't beat this for 90 and it will shock you how good a sound can come from such a small piece of kit. Buy it now its superb!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing sound, bass, and vocals if your looking for an ipod stereo then this is the one to get

What is in a name? Clearly the jivebox has been designed for a market whose listeners ONLY listen to music recorded at consistently high levels. As other reviewers have noted this system flips into standby mode after about 20 seconds of any music that is not unremittingly loud. So if you listen to any kind or style of music that does not hammer away without stopping your jivebox will go to sleep! Such a shame because the sound is superb. The illuminated coloured strip is deeply pointless for anyone over the age of 5 and the simple cloth covering of the many speaker ports does leave one feeling that the unit might be vulnerable to physical damage. Solve the standby issue and this will be a highly competitive unit. In sonic terms easily beating the Bose system at half the price. BUT for now spend your money elsewhere. I replaced this unit with a Klipsch iGroove SXT which is a little cheaper, a lot smaller but with excellent sound as well.

Pleasantly surprised with this little gem.
Looks great, fits in a little corner.
Sound is awesome.
A gift for the price.
