Great Bit of Kit October 8, 2008 This product is very good. I am giving it 5 stars as I am rating the HARDWARE and not the SOFTWARE.
I brought this for school an have been very pleased so far. Data is stored very quickly.
As others have said. The Sync is a no go zone. Just use it as a normal drive.
does the job September 30, 2008 Bought this baby to backup heap of music/viseo/etc and had no problems with it so far... didt use the sync software that came with it but just stored it on a seperate folder for possible future use.
Runs on my old laptop with cord supplied (single USB) althou did not not work on friedns old computer with USB 1.1.
only thing, the capacity of the drive is only 232MB as shown in explorer. Not sure if u format it, u may get full capacity but just one thing that seemed a little bizare...
besides that, no real major problems
Essential .... September 26, 2008 This hard disk really is essential. Western Digital disks are renouned for not being reliable but I've had this for over a year and it is the most reliable disk I've come across. I've dropped this disk more times than I can count and still no problems. It's compact and amazing for the price. This disk is much better than any other WD disks I've tried by far.
A pocket wonder September 24, 2008 This hard disk drive is not much bigger than a mobile phone - 12.6cm x 7.9cm x 1.5cm - and holds a whopping 250Gb.
This makes is the perfect back-up drive that you can take with you. I carry mine in my laptop bag, so that should my laptop hard disk fail I have all my data with me and can still work. Assuming I can borrow a PC or laptop that is.
At home it can sit in a drawer and, if you want to pop round a friends house and share some tunes, it will sit in your pocket without causing an embarrassing bulge.
I have been using Western Digital for years and have never had any technical problems - I simply upgrade for capacity.
The one negative is the bundled sync software. It's a dog and is best avoided. Search for syncback on Google and you will find a great backup utility that is free for the basic version and very cheap for the full version.
The final point about My Passport Essential is the wonderful choice of colours. No more dull grey or matt black technology, these drives are busting with colour.
Great technology, very reliable, huge choice of colours and very keenly priced.
Five stars.
Amazing September 22, 2008 my father bought this product for me and it works perfectly once you work out how to use the things it already come with on. 5 stars works just like it should and is very quiet.
