Awful, useless and intrusive software February 24, 2008 I think I would rather suffer from viruses than deal with McAfee's rubbish software any longer. When I installed it I chose not to have the Spamkiller option as it is just useless and ever since then it pops up a message with a very annoying accompanying tone a few times a day to tell me that I need to reinstall it. There is no way I can find of removing this message which is very frustrating. Today I have decided to remove the software and advise everyone I know against buying it because when I turned my computer on it told me that I was unprotected; so I clicked the 'fix' button which has never worked to date. It then told me that it couldn't update my software because I had some conflicting software on my computer that was preventing this...guess what it was; MacAfee Privacy service!! to add insult to injury I ran MacAfee uninstall and the Privacy service didn't even come up as an option. I think they must employ blind monkeys to write this appalling software. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolute Rubbish November 15, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
After installing it (with about 3 reboots), my log in time went from 30 seconds to 4mins. I started to update the virus definitions, etc and it needs a reboot after downloading the installer, then a rebook after the installation and then a reboot to finish the installation. After all that when my PC eventually boots and logs in, the virus killer is not enabled and I have to manually enable it every time.
So I decided to uninstall it and you'd think that would be just a case of "Add/Remove programs" and removing it, but it leaves registry entries and files all over the place.
This product doesn't even deserve 1 star. Don't even bother with this. I'm going back to my free AVG virus killer.
do not buy November 6, 2006 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
it made both the home pc and my new laptop come to a virtual standstill. apparently it the actual Mcafee software has problems with some Windows software. So I would check on their internet site before you buy to check their progress with finding a cure for the problem before you buy.
Total Waste of Money October 23, 2006 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Agree with other users. Far too much hassel and eventually it ends up in the bin and u end up having to cough up for another product. Plse stay away and save your money. Its just not worth the effect for something that is a total failure

It doesn't deserve 1 star! Installing this was a nightmare. Several hours later and it wouldn't let me access the web. No matter what I tried it blocked me. Maybe there was a little box somewhere that needed ticking, but as a novice I couldn't find it and wasted a whole weekend trying to sort out what was wrong before I finally gave up and uninstalled McAfee and threw it in the bin! I have now gone back to Norton with no problems (though that took ages to download, but I went away and left it to it). I have completely wasted my money!!!
