The final frontier! December 28, 2007 I find it incredible that such a cheap game can be so educationally valuable. This little card game has given my son a great interest in Space, to the point where he now wants a telescope to try to see all the planets. When we play this game together, I am bombarded with questions, many of which I struggle to answer, but some, e.g. relating to temperature, size, distance I can just about cope with! This game has certainly given my 6 year old son a keen interest in maths, physics and history and I feel there is no better way to learn about these subjects, at his age, than through play. I thoroughly recommend this game but parents be warned, you will need an encyclopaedia at the ready to answer obscure questions that are sure to be asked!
Nebulae and Planets - they're all here October 5, 2005 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I am a top trump enthusiast, and I quite like this one. It is, like all top trumps, excellent on pure educational grounds. Let's face it, playing trumps is a fun way to learn about any sort of phenomena. The only thing I was less enthusiastic about with these particular trumps is that much of the phenomena are not really 'head to head' contests if you know what I mean. 'Jupiter v Venus' is a pretty interesting contest, as you can compare diameters etc and be interested to discover which is greater if you don't already know. But 'Haley's comet v space dust' don't quite get me going in the same way; they are not really comparable phenomena. But I would recommend these trumps on educational grounds alone. Enjoy!
