It works, but some thought needed before buying August 15, 2008 Whilst this product does what it says it will do, I do have a problem that I orginally hadn't thought of. I've used it to connect my TV, DVD recorder with Freeview, and home theatre system (HTS). The DVD recorder is plugged into the "always on" socket (otherwise it would mean having to retune it every time it was powered up). That's fine, however the HTS, which includes a CD player and radio, now cannot be used unless the TV is powered up, so if I want the radio on I have to turn the TV on which will no doubt be using more power when it's on than I will be saving when not in use or on standby. The only way around it is to plug the HTS into a seperate socket so I can turn it on independently, which kind of defeats the object and also probably means that any power surge through that socket would go through to everything else bypassing the Intellipanel, and on hindsight I might as well have left things as they were and simply switched off the TV and HTS at the socket every night. This will also hold true for anything else you plug into the panel - such as a lamp for example - it won't work unless you have the main item that is plugged into the panel powered up, so do think carefully before buying as I should have done.
Itellipanel July 29, 2008 Mine worked fine for three months right up to the point that everything except the server went off. The peripheral light is out and no restart works. I have even lost the bill!
Very Poor - June 9, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Found that it worked for a while and then kept switching my main computer and the peripherals on and off every half an hour. Basically it couldn't cope with the sleep function on my computer. Very disappointing - now consigned to the bin. Tried to do my bit for global warning and ended up wasting money and resources on this!
Bulky power supplies no problem. May 14, 2008 Just plug a simple 4 gang extension strip into one of the peripheral sockets and plug your bulky power supplies into the strip. Works fine for me.
Ahhh but! December 2, 2007 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am having a little trouble connecting up my TV/HiFi. Naturally my HiFi receiver is at the heart of it all.
When connecting the Receiver OR the TV to the monitored socket they require two presses of my remote control. The first to activate the intellipanel and put the device into standby, which delivers the power to all peripheral devices, and the second to bring the device to full power.
My particular version of the oneclick (bought at Tesco) has a trailing infra-red switch that is supposed to work in conjunction with any device plugged into the sensor socket. Which you are instructed to program to read the on/off RC command of the monitored device/socket.
The problem is that when I press the RC on/off/standby for the connected unit the second time it activates the off cycle on the Intellipanel. So naturally NOTHING stays on for more than 30 seconds after I've turned on the TV or the Receiver (whichever I use in the monitored socket).
My understanding is that to work properly the RC for the Intellipanel should only work every other press - but that is not the case, it seems.
I think that programming the intellipanel's RC might work if I programmed it to use a redundant RC button, but finding one that doesn't do anything practical is proving difficult!
