Perfect May 22, 2008 I am an inexperienced cook and a mum of a three-year old. This book provides hundreds of healthy and tasty recipes. Very helpful index in each section with pictures and approximate cooking/preparation time. Very well organized, very good range of recipes, everything easy to find, lots of useful tips and beautiful illustrations. My only complaint (as with lots of other cookbooks I have) is lists of ingredients saying "175 g of carrot" rather than "one/two small carrots", but it seems to be a trend...
Home (European) cooking to satisfy just about anyone. April 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We have had a previous print of this book for years and will, I am sure, use it for many to come. This review is based on the version we have.
I always hate the word 'complete' in the title of any book as books can NEVER be COMPLETE. There will always be several ways to do any one thing. This is, however, an extremely comprehensive book that clearly describes all the basic methods of preparing and cooking most ingredients and equipment. It even tells you to remove barnacles from mussels before cooking them!
The clear instructions and of photos taken at different stages during the process are the best that I have seen in a cookbook. It is incredibly practical and easy to use.
My most used cook book! March 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Like most people I have loads of cook books and many have just been glanced through but this one is a winner in every way. wonderful recipes and lots of pictures and details. I have had a clear out and Mary Berry Complete Cookbook is the one I use most of the time. Had a friend here for lunch today and made Bean Bake, fantastic. Just going to order another Mary Berry book now!
So simple to use! January 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned and used many cookery books over the years and I have cooked for a lot of people too. This book is simple to use, easy to follow and the recipes produce perfect results every time. My husband has started to use it now too and he is beginning to 'take over' my recipes, achieving them as well as I do! My only difficulty was, whilst living north of the Arctic circle, finding white chocolate for the wonderful three choc. terrine! I must have created quite a stir; all supermarkets in Bodo now sell it!
This book is my kitchen bible December 6, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this book. The chapter organisation and picture index is great for inspiration and the recipes are very reliable - I have successfully erved things from this book at dinner parties, where I'm trying the recipe for the first time. Its my kitchen bible and I thoroughly recommend it.
