Great Stuff July 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is a great one. Having just started on the aromatherapy road, this book has tonnes of great advice from recipes to background information on subjects. It is very well organised with clear defined sections. I would recommend this book to aromatherapy personnages of all levels.
One book - two titles April 11, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
An excellent book, but just to point out if you're buying several aromatherapy books from Amazon, that this is the same book as 'The Fragrant Pharmacy' by the author: under a different title, in a slightly larger format, and with a less pretty cover!
A diverse and enjoyable book April 6, 2008 I find myself quite often dipping into this book as it covers the use of essential oils in so many different ways - from remedies, to cosmetics, to household cleaning and cooking. While it is a mine of information, my own experience of the recipes is that I haven't always found them to be effective - but then I'm not an aromatherapist. I still feel this is a valuable addition to my apothecary bookcase, and have learnt a great deal about the use of essential oils from it.
a must have February 4, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I find myself referring to this book constantly. Complete descriptions of how to blend and use the different oils for different conditions, along with tips on making your own blends. I bought this for the beauty recipes and information, and find myself checking out the other sections more and more frequently. Great for beginners and folks who have been working with essential oils for a while.
A TRULY COMPLETE BOOK September 4, 2001 113 out of 115 found this review helpful
Most aromatherapy books focus mainly on the properties of essential oils. Any good aromatherapist already KNOWS them... so, to find a book that doesn't 'specialize' in what any good aromatherapist already knows is a truly good find! This book focuses more on the applications that an aromatherapist would require, and the fact that is is sectioned or grouped into areas of compatibility is exceptionally pleasing for the aromatherapist who needs quick referencing. I particularly like the section on occupational oils as that is the area I find most people are struggling with in today's hectic society. The 'recipes' recommended are solid and not only a very good base for the budding aromatherapist but also an exciting new arena to venture into for the more experienced aromatherapist. I believe if you buy this book, it will become dog-eared from good use... as mine has already!
