A Biography from Humble Beggings to Film Icon March 21, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The book starts with a Forward by that Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani. He discusses Grant's name change, which we infer to be necessary. Armani describes Grant as 'smooth, debonair and above all, elegant'.
The book is littered with many illustrations of Grant and his co-stars, which documents the changing of his personal style including his mistakes namely hats and bow ties (fashion, not for DJs), it also discusses how a director parted Grants hair on the other side which made is head look square.
Overall the book is an excellent read discussing his friendships, influences and his personal style.
A celebration of style - wow! October 25, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have just finished reading this excellent book. It really is inspiring. It certainly confirms that in order to give an aura of effortless elegance a lot of effort is in fact required. I like the fact that the book discusses CG's style in a social context. I hadn't appreciated, by the way, that CG was such a romantic - 5 wives! That really is a triumph of optimism over experience. In addition to the fascinating biography there is an excellent style guide included. 5 Stars!
