Food that is big on flavour and easy to prepare February 19, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
For me, Pret is a British institution. I fell in love with Pret while taking graphic design courses in London. It was between my school and a really nice park. I admit, I did try other places to grab a bite, but none compared in freshness and taste like Pret. I even converted my husband, who is most fond of the hoisin duck wrap and banana cake.
Fast forward to me finishing school and getting a job where there are no sandwich shops anywhere around. Insanely bored of bringing sandwiches in, and feeling nostalgic for the good old days of central London and my park, I picked up the Pret A Manger cook book. Oh yes, there it is, easy to prepare lunch stuff that tastes great. I love it. Who knew that a few simple ingredients could make me so happy (Pret does, which is why they are good at what they do). My husband just made me the carrot cake for my birthday and it was delicious!! I made the banana cake and it too was lovely, but I would recommend putting the frosting in the fridge to thicken it up slightly. I am personally looking forward to summer now, the salads all look wonderful. If you work near a Pret, I envy you, but if not this is an inspirational book for anyone seeking a fresh alternative to another day of ham on white bread!
