I was surprised by its speed and virtual lack of resistance to harder things being pushed through. The juice it makes is excellent and it's fairly easy to clean. Well worth it.

Make juicing part of your lifestyle July 5, 2005 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I have had one of these machines for a year now and it is the most used piece of equipment in my kitchen. Several of my friends have different machines and agree this one is the best at this price and more. It is so fast and easy to use - its wide chute means most produce can go straight in the machine after a quick wash. It is easy to clean - if you clean it straight after use its a breeze and it will always be sitting there ready for your next juice. Juicing is an excellent way to get healthy, tasty and nutritious food into your body and get the benefits of weight loss if you need it and more energy - if you need more information check out Jason Vale (The JuiceMaster) books on Amazon. You will not believe the difference between freshly juiced oranges, apples, carrots and the stuff you get in the shops. You can also make naughty juices with vodka, gin etc ;-). Yes you can get cheaper machines but generally they are slower and you have to chop almost everything first. Here are some TIPS: I keep my supermarket plastic bags and line the waste hopper with a bag which make clean up even easier and means I can chuck it all straight in the dustbin (believe me you don't want mashed veggie waste in you kitchen bin on a hot day, phew !). Best way to clean the mesh is with the brush under a running hot tap. When assembling put the waste hopper on last as its easier than trying to put the top on with the hopper in place.
Dream come true! June 26, 2005 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I'm not one for writing reviews, in fact this is my first but I just had to say something! I've been happily 'juicing' away on a Kenwood machine for quite some time now. I'm very health conscious so rated my daily juice drink, full of its vitamins quite highly. I thought the hassle of cutting, peeling fruit... Gently and slowly pushing into my Kenwood machine was the price you paid for fresh juice. Oh how I was wrong! The Breville is simply outstanding! It's fast, easy to use and unbelievably powerful! For somebody quite experience in the world of juicing its simply A DREAM COME TRUE!

Definitely recommended. I did a lot of research on centrifugal juicers before deciding on this one and it is better than I expected. I would'nt say it was any noisier than for example a blender or food processor. It is very easy to disassemble and clean all parts. Juices hard and soft fruit equally well, I recommend scoring apple skins, once round middle and 3 from top to bottom before placing whole apple in chute, it helps to prevent large pieces of skin from covering the cutting blades and reducing efficiency. To prevent the pulp collection bowl from staining I line it with a small plastic bin liner or large food bag then just lift it out, no mess or washing required!. A friend has the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer, although it seems to juice quite well it is fiddly to clean and it has a 200 watt motor whereas the Breville cleans with ease and has an 850 watt motor giving it plenty of oomph when juicing. The two speed switch is sturdy and the overall design is fiendishly simple but classy. Advisable to at least soak the mesh filter as soon as you have finished juicing to avoid the mesh becoming clogged with dried fruit bit's otherwise I suspect a lot of elbow grease may be needed to clean it thoroughly. Certainly worth it's money, I would'nt be without it.
