Incorrect information June 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first I thought this book was brilliant but actually it's got incorrect information in it which could be a danger to your child and I couldn't trust it!!
In the 4-7 month category it has recipes for oats and meat. If you're weaning your child before 6 months you should know that you cannot give meat to them and only gluten free oats, which it doesn't mention.
I wouldn't trust this book and will not be using it. Unfortunately I didn't get to look at it until it was too late to return.
Yum-my!! February 1, 2008 After reading the reviews on the other books by Lizzie i thought i would buy this and give it a try. I've just tried one of the recipes and it was quick and easy to make, and smells (and tastes!) absolutely delicious - i think i may well be making some more for me!!
The only downside is that most of the recipes are just for one or two portions but having said this they are easy to double up. At the bottom of each recipe it details how they can be stored, what kind of portion-size is made and what vitamins and minerals the food is rich in. All in all i would say that this is a good buy and i look forward to seeing some more cookbooks from Lizzie Vann in the future!!
Not useful at all January 8, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was not very useful. This book offers a lot of recipes with meat or chicken. I was only able to take one recipe from this book. And most of all if you have a toddle and trying to feed him/her healthy foods, you will not be able to take on anything from here. Very disappointed.
I love this book - real recipes for real people January 31, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I originally borrowed this from our library! The recipes are not too time-consuming (I write as someone who does not own a food-processor). Unlike many other books, these recipes do not involve lots of weighing or fiddly quarter tsps (usually just a few spoons, whole veg or a measuring jug (floz or ml)) and are easy to multiply if you want a larger quantity. Fine veg chopping is fiddly but worth it. Also, the ingredients are easy to find in a standard store ie tinned butter beans, frozen sweetcorn. I did find other books required things I cannot get ie rice wine vinegar. I have used these recipes so much more than any other, I need to get my own copy! I taste everything before I give it to baby and we both like these. Strangely, on processed food my baby is very fussy, on home-made, she is no trouble.
Recipes that actually taste of something! November 20, 2003 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I love this book...the author is unafraid to make use of herbs and spices to actually make the meal taste of something. The recipes are easy to follow, and really easy to adapt if you're missing some of the ingredients. The book is fairly short but a great source of inspiration. Home-cooked, the recipes taste far better than their equivalents in jars.
