Gordon Has Done It Again September 22, 2008 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
This man is Genius. He brings out one excellent book after another, and this one is no exception. For the person who likes to entertain and cook for friends and family, this book is a must. All his books follow the same path in they use great tasting food, and packed full of meals, which anyone would be proud of.
As ever the layout of the book is first class. It has bright inviting photographs, easy to follow recipes, and the quantity of recipes in this book is very impressive once again.
The book is broken down into the following sections.
*Hot and Cold Soups *Pasta and grains *Fish and Shellfish *Meat and Poultry *Pies and Tarts *Vegetables and Salads *Puddings and Ices *Chocolate and Coffee *Basics.
At the beginning of the book there is an introduction, in which Gordon talks about how important it is to get into the kitchen and cook together. He talks about how he runs his kitchen at home and how they all enjoy cooking, together, and how it's a world away from the hustle and bustle of a professional kitchen just good fun as cooking is meant to be.
A first class book, overall, and one that I would highly recommend as an essential companion in the kitchen.
The best yet September 19, 2008 12 out of 16 found this review helpful
I'm a big fan of Gordon's cookbooks and I think this is the best yet. I agree with the other reviewer that the recipies are much easier to follow that from the other books I have, and I think that I'll actually use more of them because of it.
And I like the look of the insides more that the other books too. It's not as cluttered and is very smart--but I think I'll add a few of my own splashes from the hob.
Easy to follow September 17, 2008 16 out of 20 found this review helpful
Gordon Ramsay is a GREAT chef - but sometimes his recipes can be too complex for the enthusiastic amateur like myself. However, this book is just right - in that the recipes are excellent and there is some great stuff in here but, most importantly, the recipes are well written and easy to follow. I think this is perfect for those who want to cook quality dishes for dinner parties but not spend several days in the kitchen preparing for it!! Highly recommended.
