not great August 11, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
All style and no substance. The recipes are very brief and leave you guessing. Covers all the favourites, but not in any detail. Sorry I wasted the money and I found it a copy of the popular blue covered tourist cookbook available in every language in the souvenier shops, so don't buy it if you already have that one!
A comprehensive kitchen shelf filller August 9, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you like Greek food you'll love this book. It tells you what you need and the time you need BUT does not go into huge detail which makes it sutible for the adventerous cook who wants to find their own way to cook Greek food. It delivers everything, from how to cook fried eggs and cheese to full on bandit meals. A must for lovers of Greek food
My Review! July 4, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a beautifully illustrated Greek cookbook which contains many real Greek recipes. It has a clear contents listing and recipes are not at all complicated to prepare. This cookbook contains recipes for many of the better-known Greek dishes, and also includes some more unusual recipes like St Fanourious' Yeast Cake. The illustrations are wonderful and this high-quality publication contains so many recipes....Oh, and it's printed in Greece, You can't really get more authentic than that!
Excellent, practical cookbook February 18, 2005 26 out of 26 found this review helpful
I bought this book while on holiday in Greece a few years ago, and since then I have used it a lot. It's very user-friendly, and the dishes turn out the way they are meant to - both visually and in terms of taste. And although I live in Portugal where shopping isn't as cosmopolitan as in some other countries, I've had no problem getting the ingredients. One of the most frequently used cookbooks in our collection at home, and unconditionally recommended!
Excellent book on greek cooking February 1, 2005 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
This is a great book on greek cookery, it also has pictures of some of the dishes. The recipes are clear and easy to follow even for the novice in the kitchen. I have just bought a second copy because my mother has nicked mine and she is from Crete.
