Panasonic Combi oven NN-A873S1 May 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Was really looking forward to receiving this product. Had read mixed reviews but decided to take plunge as it had all features I wanted. What a disappointment. The cooking seemed OK in the short time I've had it but the build quality is terrible. First one arrived damaged - door misaligned and top left hand corner cracked. Returned it. Replacement seemed OK although door not perfect fit. Had it for 4 days and crack appeared at top left of door - in exactly same place as previous. Whole hinge wobbly every time I open the door. Awaiting response from both Amazon and Panasonic on this issue. Both suppliers currently out of stock.
No to Turbo-bake March 26, 2008 This was a replacement for my 5yr old Dim 4 Genius which developed HAL tendencies. I purchased it for the ability to use shelves. In the month that I've had it, I've found it to work well, except for the Turbo-bake facility. This is extremely inferior to my previous microwave's combination of oven and grill. I telephoned Panasonic's cooking help line and was told that the grill turns off when the oven temperature is reached. Thus I find the food remains pallid (even on Grill 1) and needs grilling at the end of Turbo-baking. I find it frustrating that I can't control the browning element. The reheat programs are excellent.
Really pleased with this microwave October 11, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
After a recommendation from my brother-in-law and his wife about their new microwave, I decided it was time to update my very ancient Matsui microwave. Preparing a Sunday dinner in the kitchen with my sister was the final persuasion. For once HE was right!! (also A Whitehead btw!!!!)
Anyway, I've had this microwave two weeks and have to say that I like to boast about it's features. I would have preferred more auto settings but nevertheless this microwave is really easy to use, especially after using a very basic model for well over 10 years. Certainly, my old one didn't have a convection oven or grill, so it is wonderful to have the convenience of combining defrosting and cooking with one appliance.
Like any microwave, the test of time will be the real acid test but for the moment I too have nothing but praise. I feel sorry for those who found damage to their microwave before even using it - clearly Panasonic are taking a little more care now with the build quality as neither mine nor my sisters suffered from paint coming off etc. and Amazon have obviously also rectified the problem with rough handling, as mine arrived in perfect undamaged condition. I have had no strange noises either when I close the door of my microwave!!
Overall I would say - well done Panasonic!!
This microwave is awesome....the best!!! October 1, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
First, I can't believe this microwave has only been given two stars by other reviewers - it's brilliant!!
I decided to try a whole week using only this piece of equipment wherever I had the option to use it's functions. The radiant grill feature is certainly powerful at 1.5kW and although I overcooked my first attempt, I'm confident that I have now mastered it's use. As for the microwave, well 1000W speaks for itself - a 'must' power rating for me when looking to buy a microwave oven.
Anyway, four weeks now and no problems at all..... certainly no wobbles, dents, sticky-tape marks, dodgy hinges or strange 'clunks' with my microwave. Yes, the previous reviews had made me doubt a little too, but I'm now so glad I used my own instinct and went ahead and bought this microwave. For me, top marks to Panasonic on producing another well designed piece of equipment.
I'm very happy to give this one the 5 stars.
i didnt buy from amazon.co.uk October 27, 2006 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
Ok I see that some people have had problems with the build quality on this particular micro combi but I haven't had any of the problems other people have
I bought mine from comet.co.uk and had no trouble with rocking or dents maybe people should be more selective where they shop instead of looking for a good deal and ending up with damaged goods. Then instead of writing an online review stating they had trouble with the appliance they should have gone back to the source and demanded a replacement. I know I would have.
Apart from that the family love this machine it works beautifully and does everything it is supposed to my kids (age 9 - 12) love it for baking and cooking (with adult supervision) my partner uses it for allsorts of things it really is a good all round micro combi
