5 out of 5 stars SONA NOW THAT'S A PRISON!!   August 25, 2008
This was as good as one and two but it was really short which was a real shame only 13 parts in total. It kept you on the edge of your seat from the word go and was dark and gritty in places. The main actors did a brillant job as always for me Ballick and more so Alex to the acting honours this time around he was outstanding. In all a very good effort all round I am looking forward to seeing the next season I hope it carrys on from where this left off because this is wide open for a another great story line. If I am honest this is better than 24 and that's coming from a die hard 24 fan so it must be worth watching.

5 out of 5 stars Just as good as seasons 1 and 2   August 13, 2008

The starting point of the original series was that a structural engineer was going to break his death row brother out of prison by getting sent to prison himself and then using his tatoos, and his work helping the prison governor construct a matchstick model of the Taj Mahal, to tunnel out of a maximum security prison and get to Panama. Naturally, the brother was the victim of a vast conspiracy on the part of the shadowy forces controlling America, a conspiracy which boiled down to giving the vice president's brother a nice house and a set of false teeth.

So far, so not exactly cinema verite.

Some viewers have obviously felt that season 3 was stretching the plausibility of the story. This doesn't do justice to the wild implausibility of what has come before. The plot of Prison Break is total gibbering nonsense from start to finish. Season 3 is as silly as seasons 1 and 2. It's absolutely brilliant.

If you want a serious, thoughtful attempt to capture the complex, ambiguous relationship between criminal and governmental structures, watch the Wire; personally, I watch Prison Break because it's nonsense on stilts, but nonsense with a completely addictive narrative drive, played out by a fantastic set of character actors.

If you took seasons 1 and 2 for what they were - the best fun on TV - then season 3 won't disappoint you.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but getting tired   August 8, 2008

Series 1 (Prison Break - Season 1 - Complete [2005]) had a brilliantly simple premise. Two guys want to get out of prison, and in each episode a new problem is thrown in their way. This is the essence of good story-telling, and it was extremely effective. After the rather random running around of series 2 (Prison Break - Season 2 - Complete [2006]), the writers returned to the original premise for this, Series 3. However, what was fresh and tight originally has now become a warmed-over pastiche. The setting is delightfully brutal, the new characters diverse and lovably villainous. But the plot feels awkward. The 'obstacles' are arbitrary, the changes in allegience serve only the narrative and not the internal worlds of the characters, and the over-arching 'Company' plot is so confused and confusing as to be meaningless.

Where in series 1 we sat on the edges of our seats rooting for the protagonists to succeed, here we root only for it all to be over. Watch it for the sake of completeness, but don't expect to be thrilled too often.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!   July 9, 2008
I am a massive Prison Break Fan and this season did not disappoint me (apart from being only 13 episodes), I was gutted when Sky one took it and I have had to wait for the boxset but this allowed me to have aa amazing Prison Break marathon. In true Prison Break style this season is full of suspense, twists an turns and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I can't wait for season 4...I love this show!!

5 out of 5 stars Can't really judge till after season 4   July 6, 2008
The story hasn't finished yet so until we see season 4 you can't really comment on the story too much. What we've seen so far has some similarities with season 1 but not so much that it ruins it at all. It's still interesting and you always want to know what happens next. The characters are all great and every little thing ties in well (although not quite as much as season one). Still brilliant tv though! Things happen much faster than in the likes of Lost.

Best if watched in the space of a few days!
