How rare these days to actually purchase a product that does exactly what it is meant to. Quite simply marvelous. Easy to put together(ladies if my husband can do it anyone can...he isnt very savvy in that area). The first electric mower I have ever had that works when grass is damp...hell who am I kidding it was wet. Lightweight, minimal effort required and before I had got going, it was done. Well done Bosch, now if you could just sort out your strimmers I'd be a happy girl.
Rotak 40 Electric Rotary Mower September 3, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The mower seems very light compared to my old flymo. Time will tell if light means flimsy but Bosch has a good name and I have many Bosch products. My biggest complaint is that even though it is sold as a mower for a medium sized garden it only comes with a puny 15m of mains cable.
Fabulous - buy it ! August 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We have never enjoyed mowing the lawn. Usually it gets left and left and then becomes so long that it is a nightmare (I know, we create the problem by leaving it). So today it was an option of strimming it first and then cutting it with our existing lawnmower which is 10 years old and can't cope with long grass, or taking the plunge and buying this one that I have been looking at for the past few weeks. So I bought it, put it together without difficulty in about 10 minutes, and off I went. Simply fabulous. Our grass was in places at least 20cm long and it just sailed through - in fact Bosch claim it will cope with 30cm grass. Our lawn is also pretty uneven and on an incline which didn't faze the mower at all. The grassbox is a good size (appears a little flimsy but it did the job without problem so I'll have to trust in the design I guess), and the whole job took 40 minutes instead of about 90 ! Let's hope it lasts as long as our Bosch washing machine, which is in its 12th year without hitch (touch wood !) Definitely recommended.
Does what it says on the box August 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Looked around for a while to replace an ageing Flymo which was no longer up to the job. Came accross this one and looked good so took the plunge.
Really does work well. Cuts in the wet, cuts long grass and puts a nice stripe down.
Only two minor issues:
1. could really do with a cable tie / storage built in as becomes a pain having to wind it manually around the handle.
2. Installation sheet not much use. On putting handle into base and trying to fix screw it would befinitely be easier if screw hole line up with handle all the way in - you have to wiggle it up a bit to line up and also if screw hole was pre threaded or at least easier to get screw in.
Fix those niggles and it would be a 5 star product.
Very good tool - light, powerful & simple August 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this about a month ago when we bought our first house, complete with a medium size lawn.
When it came, there was a bit of assembly to do, to put the grass box together. If you've got a bit of common sense and follow the instructions then this is easy.
When cutting the lawn, it made a very nice finish and munched through thicker grass perfectly happily. I found the mower light enough to control with one hand, pushing it around like a vacuum cleaner, leaving the other arm free to keep the cable out of the way. The cable is about as long as you want it - much more and it'd start being a pain. It easily stores away inside the grassbox when not in use.
The handle for adjusting the height can be a bit stiff if you're trying to make the cut longer (i.e. trying to move the body of the lawnmower upwards). Easy way around this is to lift up slightly (there's a big grab handle on top of the mower body) and then the wheels will happily drop down when you move the lever (it's not exactly rocket science).
Some bits of the mower are a bit plasticky, particularly the grass box, but it seems to be a fairly flexible, high-impact type plastic so no concerns bout it lasting. The whole thing seems pretty well put together, so I've no concerns abut it lasting the course.
All in, I'm very pleased.
