Your Rights December 15, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Hi, Most people have the misunderstanding that after the 1 year guarantee is over and the item develops a fault , you have no rights WRONG..a product is not made to last just the one year , it should last a reasonable time ( 2 and 3 years is not reasonable). So if a product fails 2 or 3 years after purchase and you can prove that it is a manufacturing fault or you can not fix the item because the manufacturer doesn't supply the parts , as in this case of this bread maker where a number of people reporting similar faults. You can request that the product be fixed or replaced or money refunded....if they do neither , take them to a small claims court .Tell the company this in writing ..... you may find you will get a more positive results if you do this.
Use the internet to find other users with a similar fault and take the results to the court if it gets that far...don't let them rip you off.
All the best,
SCc
Great while it lasted... December 15, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this breadmaker after trying a loaf made in my friend's Panasonic. Soon, I wondered how I'd ever managed without it. It was just so easy and quick to set up a bake, and the results were great. It wasn't long before I'd abandoned shop bought bread entirely. I baked about 4-5 large loaves a week in this, my first breadmaker, and congratulated myself on purchasing such a handsome and efficient machine. I trusted it!
Then one morning I came downstairs wondering what was missing. No smell of fresh bread. Inside the bread pan was a horrible mess. The mixing paddle had stopped working. And the machine was JUST out of its warranty period.
I managed to repair the paddle mechanism ok, and the machine worked fine again for a month or so. Then one morning I came downstairs...This time the loaf was the size and texture of a house brick. The bread pan had developed a leak, and - well, YOU try fobbing off the family with Ryvitas for breakfast...
I think nearly a hundred quid for just over a year's breadmaking is a rip off. I'm off to buy a Panasonic like my friend's, which has done its duty for several years and IS good value for money.
MY A.W - T Breadmaker Is No Loafer ! December 2, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
this was bought for me as a christmas present FOUR YEARS ago & it makes on average THREE LOAVES PER WEEK (on average that is 160 per year) & the only baking problems have been my own errors. My only gripe is that the finish on the lid section has begun to wear off this year, otherwise i would award 5*.
Recipes don't work November 13, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Ever since I got this machine a few years ago I have been unable to get the majority of the recipes to make good bread. The paddle does not mix the bread properly (I think due to the large size of the tin)and at first the bread would have lumps of congealed flour in it. Since then I have tried mixing the ingredients myself at the beginning, and it does help, however the bread seems to collapse when risen and the bottom of the loaf is dense. I only seem to get a decent loaf on the white bread setting but with a lot more yeast added. I am suprised at the positive comments for this product but then one person did mention they used recipes adapted from another machine. I wouldn't recommend this product.
do not buy this bread maker November 9, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
We have made very few loaves with this bread maker and the heater element malfunctioned- Breville were not interested in helping and do not make replaceable parts. Also the outside soon peels off leaving a shabby looking item! I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS BREAD MAKER
