An excellent book. Easy to follow, delicious recpies, even if you are not a great or keen cook. I actually cook a meal when I get home from work now as opposed to some supermarket rubbish ready meal. Weight loss going very well, so pleased I bought the book.

The two most important things about this diet is that it works and it makes you feel great. the food looks good, tastes good and is easy and very quick to make. If the truth be known this doesn't feel like a diet at all - it just seems like good healthy eating with some useful facts on glycemic load to take the guess work out of it. I have been follwoing this for a month now and have lost 10lbs. The best thing is i never feel hungry and I have so much energy! The weight loss does start slowly - I only lost a lb in the first week but it is now so effective that I am consciously having to up my food intake to maintain my current weight.

Most of the recipes I have so far tried in this book have been very tasty and on the whole quick to prepare. From a health point of view I have no doubt it is doing me good and blood sugar levels are stable. As a test, a week and a half into the diet, I ate some "healthy" homemade oat biscuits containing amongst other things sugar and golden syrup and within 20 mins felt very sleepy and soon developed a headache. There are still some biscuits left but I now have no desire to eat them! As for weight loss, I have about 10-12lbs to lose and lost 1lb in a week so this is not a quick fix diet. From a practical point of view, putting together a shopping list for all the ingredients for a week's worth of food takes a long time (not helped by the fact that the page numbers for the recipes are not listed with the diet plan) and I would also say that if you are working full time, then you would probably need to prepare most of the following day's breakfast,lunch and snacks the night before. Most of the ingredients are easily obtainable in the supermarket(apart from the recommended sugar substitute xylitol - mail order details are in the book) which avoids a second journey to a health food shop. Costwise my food bill is, surprisingly, about the same. Will the children eat this stuff? Unfortunately mine have very conservative tastes and would quite happily eat roast chicken dinner every night so I am having to cook separate meals for them but most of the recipes should have a reasonably broad appeal or be easily adaptable for children. I have only given it three stars because I think that the time required to manage this diet let alone eat 5 times a day on a sustained basis is unrealistic for most people in this day and age. However the principles of the GL diet are sound and if I fall off the wagon I will try and keep to them in my own way.

I first got the GL Diet and found it absolutely marvellous and this is great too. I am not a cook by any means & the recipes I have made have been simple and so tasty that has inspired me to try some more. It is such a simple natural way of eating & I too have found my cravings gone and feel I am just eating the way we are supposed to. I cannot recommend this book or the GL diet highly enough

I have suffered from low blood sugar, mood swings and serious sugar cravings most of my adult life, so for me the main aim of wanting to try the GL program was not to lose weight, but to gain some control of my life. And the results have been fantastic! I have followed the GL program for over a month now and not only are the recipes fabulously tasty, they are also remarkably quick and easy to prepare. And my cravings have more or less gone (even in the days leading up to my period!). I really enjoy planning the meals a few days in advance (I recommend that you do this - it does help to plan ahead), and by now I have been through most of the recipes, including the cakes (it's worth getting the xylitol - sugar substitute if you like your cakes and sweets). I have also lost about 5 lbs, and feel much more energetic than I have in ages. I couldn't recommend this book highly enough.
