easy and tasty April 24, 2006 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I'm a lactose intolerant veggie so bought this book for a bit of inspiration - and it's given me plenty. I have to admit I've stuck to delia with goat substitutes for the sweet stuff so can't tell you if the cakes are good but the savoury recipes I've tried have been devine. I've found them easy and fun to prepare, more exciting than your average veggie food and absolutely delicious. I have to admit to adding the odd extra bit of salt and sugar here and there though to enhance the flavour so I'm not sure I'd want to stick to the recipes exactly as they stand... BUT if you're in the same situation as me, and looking for some ideas to broaden your repertoire of meat free lactose free meals, you'll find it really helpful.
Learn to know your body December 13, 2003 20 out of 25 found this review helpful
Having personally met and been helped by Barbara Cousins, I would recommend her books. Barbara helped me start on the ladder to better health and also taught me to listen to my body's needs. It is now a couple of years since I stopped seeing her and I still use her recipes on a weekly basis, especially her soups and continue to heed her advise. Well worth purchasing both her cookery books.
What a Disappointment February 13, 2003 42 out of 60 found this review helpful
As a person who loves to cook cakes and deserts but eager to eliminate sugar, I was so disappointed by the recipes. In some cases, the recipes leave out instructions and don't tell you what to do with certain ingredients, and I had to just guess. Secondly every cake I have made from this book tastes awful, and everyone that has tried them agrees. Believe me when I say that I didn't give up and perservered determined to find one dessert that would be tasty, but alas, I have now given up. It is no fun eating cardboard no matter how healthy it is.
How can it taste so good? October 21, 2002 17 out of 19 found this review helpful
Excellent cookery book for anyone who wants to eat healthily. The food tastes fantastic and shows you that you don't need sugar in everything. Really easy to follow recipies, good enough for dinner parties.
I love it! September 3, 2001 40 out of 41 found this review helpful
This is a fabulous book. It is full of ideas for vegetarians with alergies. I just love looking through it, planning what to try next. The ingredients are not too abstract, which makes the book very accessible. My husband is a veggie with no known alergies, and he has switched his diet to these healthy tasty dishes too. If you have alergies/intolerances then buy this book.... you will not be disappointed.
