My most-used cook book September 20, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is excellent, there's loads of variety but all the recipes are quick and there are no strange ingredients that you can't find. I've gone out and brought copies for friends.
Saturated Fats *Alert* June 5, 2007 13 out of 22 found this review helpful
Vegetarians don't need to be obese with clogged arteries. I was shocked at the nutritional information of most recipes, where calories and saturated fats seem to be a badge of honour. Basically, these are meat-based recipes where cheese, cheese and yet more cheese was used as a substitute. Has BBC ever heard of tofu or pulses? Many dishes provide up to 40% of the daily dietary needs of an active adult woman, which is really excessive. Want a good book of vegetarian recipes? Well, I'm afraid this isn't it. Shame.
The one cookbook that wont gather dust March 29, 2007 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
How many times have you bought a cookbook, full of good intentions to try something new, only to find that each recipe requires fifty ingredients, the majority of which are either unheard of or unobtainable. Not with this little gem of a book! Most of the recipes have only a few ingredients, the majority of which are available in even the most sparcely populated cupboards. And they dont take hours to prepare or cook either. I have tried many of the recipes and to date not one has turned out wrong. It's most satisfying for non-professionals like me to turn out a dish that looks exactly as it does in the (particularly enticing) photograph. In fact every one of the books in this series is a total must-have. Well done Good Food!
what a brilliant little book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! January 4, 2007 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
As a long time vegetarian finding new recipes is always exciting. when i opened this small book i wasn't sure it would be much use, but!!!! what a suprise, it is brimming full of simple but tasty recipes for veggies. Give it a go you will be happily suprised!!!
Brilliant - for veggie and none veggie alike. December 6, 2006 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic little book. I'm a non-vegetarian married to a vegetarian and often find it boring cooking and eating vegetarian food. Not from this book though, there's no worthiness - there are some really decadent unhealthy recipies in here a long side more healthy ones. Everything is really tasty and enjoyable.
There are a real mix of times taken to prepare and cook and ease of cooking. There are some 10 minute preparation time recipies in here I would cheerfully serve at a dinner party. Very well presented, clear and easy to use.
I would like to say this is one of the best vegetarian cookery books I've but it's better than that it's one of the best cookery books I've used none stop.
